The Scottish Terrier and Dog News has learned more about the dramatic rescue of Gypsy:
Holidaymaker Rebecca Derry-Evans, from Bath, was walking her five-year-old Scottish terrier, Gypsy, near Perranuthnoe in west Cornwall when the dog started chasing a rabbit and suddenly disappeared.
“I started calling for her and people told me that she had fallen into the sea,” said the mother-of-three.
“Someone kindly lent me their mobile phone to call 999 and after about 25 minutes the rescue operation started.”

Gypsy had first fallen on a rock some 35ft down in a gully and then another 35ft into the sea. She had managed to scramble on a rock but an incoming wave pushed her back in the water, leaving the dog with nothing to cling on to.
“I thought that was the end of her,” Mrs Derry-Evans added. “She must have been in the water for about five minutes. She was freezing cold, traumatised and scared.”

The BBC reports how the coast guard and others saved a dog that fell 10m (30ft) down a gully in Cornwall.
The Scottie dog was lying lifeless on rocks at Cudden Point, near Penzance.
A Penlee lifeboat man waded through a heavy swell to resuscitate the dog which was then winched to safety by Penzance coastguard rescue team.
Due to the deteriorating sea conditions, the lifeboat man was also winched up the cliff. The dog is expected to make a full recovery.

The B-Town Blog reports:
The King County Sheriff’s Department is reporting that the 10-week old Scottish Terrier puppy that was stolen in the burglary of a Burien pet store on Thursday, July 29th (read our first report here), was found Sunday morning, Aug. 1st.
As we first reported Thursday, deputies on routine patrol heard the pet store’s burglar alarm go off around 4:12am that morning, then tracked it to “A Place For Pets” (431 SW 152 Street) and found the rear door in the alley open. Further investigation revealed the burglar probably got into the store by removing an air conditioner unit from a rear window, before stealing just the puppy, which was valued at $745.
