Our French Cinema correspondent has written to inform the Scottish Terrier and Dog News that a Scottie is co-starring in director Luc Besson’s new film, Adèle Blanc-Sec, due out in April.

Watch for the dog at 1:06, 1:28, 2:00. While this movie may at first look like Indiana Jones spending Sunday afternoon at the Grande Jatte, things get more recognizably French just after the last glimpse of the Scottish Terrier, when, seconds later, a topless woman appears.

The Scottie News is trying to track down a bio of the unknown Scottish Terrier actor. Chit chat on a French film site suggests his name is O’Malley and this won’t be his last role.

We’re not convinced, however, that his grooming is historically accurate.

I haven’t seen it because I’m not that into animated movies but it’s supposed to be really good.

The Scottish Terrier and Dog News has been trying to figure out what to write about this Coraline Box since a reader tipped us off about its existence a few weeks back. Maybe it’s because I haven’t yet see the movie yet, but I’m very confused by the box contents, which have a kind of gruesome, serial-killeresque feel. I just don’t know what to write.

If someone can enlighten us, please do.

Past Coraline dog stories can be found in the archives.

teresa.drilling Animating Scottish Terriers for Coraline movieFollowing up on our last post on Coraline, here’s a close-up on the Scottie dogs in the movie audience. Sounds like it’s almost as difficult to get animated Scotties do what you want as it with the live ones.

For one of the film’s centerpieces, a surreal and burlesque trapeze act, (Teresa) Drilling animated some 200 Scottie dogs who watched from the audience. Drilling manipulated each dog’s reaction, tracking their individual responses as they barked out applause.

“Mostly you just keep it in your head,” she says, “like three-dimensional chess.”
