It’s the story of Stuart, a rescue Scottish Terrier.

There’s MrBlackie2You, AngusFala, LadyBonessa and ScottieTerror for starters. I’d follow them if I weren’t still locked out of Twitter.

For all you Dachshund lovers out there, here are some twittering — or should I say “tweeting”? — wiener dogs.

Dear Scottie News readers,

If you want to join a social media network for Scottish Terriers, may I recommend the Scottie Friends group on Ning. It is run by Robbin Barkley of Sir Bill’s Scottish Terriers and has almost 500 members. Scottie Friends is not as big as some of the older, more established Scottish Terrier sites on Yahoo but it has other advantages:

  1. Ning is by far the best set-up for groups, most aesthetically pleasing, etc.
  2. No drama (so far.) Anti-vaccine freaks, raw fooders, Dog Whisperer haters, I’m talking about you…
  3. Active and growing
Although I am still a member of various Yahoo groups, it left a bad taste when, on several occasions, I almost got myself blacklisted for various thought crimes, but enough about me…
The thing with social networking sites is you’ve go to find the one that works for you. Or as the French say, “à chacun son goût.” Try Scottie Friends if you haven’t already.
And feel free to recommend your favourite sites in the comments. We’ll just rip you to shreds like you’re a dog who foolishly stole a Scottie’s bone if we don’t share your opinion. Grrr!

Scottish Terrier and Dog News is updating its links so please let us know your favourite dog and Scottie sites so we can consider them for inclusion.

As well, if you have any photos of costumed Scotties, we would love to use them in the run-up to Halloween.

Two of our readers have recently sent along photos of their dogs although not in fancy dress.

First off, here’s Hamish eating a very small carrot and learning good nutritional habits at a tender young age. Excellent for keeping the pounds off and wouldn’t you know he belongs to a gym owner.

And here are the video stars, Baily and Riley. They recently played welcomed an international wedding party and showed their visiting canine guests a great time. You guys interested in hosting the Scottie News team? Some time in February when the Canadian winter’s really cold?
